Good morning everybody. Kevin Baylor with Alliance IT. Hope everyone is having a great week and enjoying the beautiful weather we got out there today.
I wanted to talk about 2020 coming up here. A couple of months away still but if you haven’t thought about next year, you really should think about next year.
What do you need to do with your organization from a technology perspective? What are your concerns? What are your initiatives? Where do you need to be spending your money?
Something that we’re really encouraging everyone to look at is their business continuity disaster recovery planning. Again even if you have one in place, look at it, make sure it is still relevant to your business where your business is today and where your business will be next year.
If you’re completely in the cloud, do you have additional cloud back-ups? If you’ve got applications in your office, do you have onsite back-ups? Do you have offsite back-ups? And also what happens in the event of a disaster? How is your staff going to work? How are your clients, your customers going to get a hold of you?
So really take a cursory and potentially a deep dive look at that business continuity and disaster recovery plan. Make sure it still fits your business and if you have questions, reach out to a local IT expert to find out what changes you may want to make with that.
In addition to that, we really encourage all businesses, any size, whether you’re small, medium-sized, large enterprise, look at how you’re working with IT whether it’s completely outsourced or completely in-house or potentially a hybrid solution. And do you have a good, agile IT solution in place? Can your IT react the way you need it to when you want it to?
Do you have the proper outsourcing contracts in place to be able to react to your needs, whether it’s on a dime or for that long term initiative? Is your in-house IT properly staffed with the expertise that you need to solve your short-term needs, your long term goals? Really looking to take IT to the next level because technology is so ingrained in so many businesses and the ability to react when you need them to and how you need them to is becoming even more important for everyday business.
Again, it’s that big picture. Just take this time. Kind of prepare yourself. Just as you’re looking at business, where is it going and how does technology come into place with that? Some of the other things that tie into technology somewhat indirectly are also apps and programs. So if you’ve got a mobile workforce, do you have the proper apps out there to really take your business to that next level? Are you getting payments done on time? Are you getting clients and customers to sign off in a timely manner? Are there other apps that may be improving your workflows or your processes within your business?
These aren’t things that your everyday outsourced IT company is going to provide but they may be able to work with you and find those solutions to use technology to take your business to that next level to improve those processes, making it better, faster and more effective for you and your clients.
