Hey everyone. Hope you’re having a great day. Kevin Baylor, Alliance IT.
I wanted to take a minute to bring some awareness to non-profits out there if you don’t know about it or maybe haven’t had a chance to get caught up or nobody has talked to you about it yet.
If you’re a non-profit, hopefully you’ve already signed up and been approved through TechSoup and you’re getting a lot of discounted and free things through that.
If you’re working with Office 365, more than likely you’ve got that through TechSoup as well. But there’s also another platform from Microsoft called “Microsoft 365” and the reason that’s becoming more prevalent is due to January 14th, 2020. Windows 7 is no longer a viable operating system, no longer supported.
So there’s a push to get non-profits and other entities up to Windows 10 and to help non-profits do that, Microsoft and TechSoup, they are offering that up to 10 users, you get Microsoft 365 business for free. Each additional user after that is only $5 a month.
So why Microsoft 365 over Office 365? Well, Microsoft 365 includes Windows 10. So you get Windows 10, either Pro or Business or Enterprise, depending on which level you go with. You get Office 365 and you get some additional security features.
So Microsoft 365 business up to 10 users, free. If you’re a small non-profit, you’re not taking advantage of that, you really need to. Your organization is missing out.
If you’re a larger non-profit and you need some additional security features, there is the Microsoft 365 E3 platform. That is only $8 a month per user. For something that retails four to five times that for a normal entity, again it is a huge advantage for non-profits out there.
This will get you up to Windows 10, lessen your investment that you’ve got to put out upfront. Again if you’re a small organization, there’s really no additional operating expense and you’re reducing or eliminating your CapEx as well.
Again, if you’re over 10, it’s going to cost you five bucks a month. If you’re paying for business premium now, you’re paying $2 a month per user. So it’s a $3 a month increase for what you get for Windows and the enhanced security. It is really a valuable asset to any non-profit out there.
So go out. Take a look at TechSoup. Talk to your IT folks and let’s make sure our non-profits are doing what they do best working with the local community, the local kids, the families. Whatever you do as a non-profit, let us help you. Have a great day.
