It can be difficult to keep up with all the updates coming form the software developers – especially those who are working on applications designed to help with the surging remote workforce in America. The managed services professionals at Alliance IT are staying up to date, however – and we are here to help you to do the same.
Here are some of the new updates which may help you to streamline your operation and keep things productive in an ever-evolving workplace.
Microsoft Teams Updates
- Manage Guest Access: Guest access for Microsoft 365 groups is enabled by default for the business. Admins can control whether or not to permit guest access for the organization as a whole, or for individual groups. When enabled, group members can invite guest users to a Microsoft 365 group via Outlook. Invitations are sent to the group owner for approval; once given, the guest is added both to the directory and the group.
- Add or Block Guests: If the guest is currently in your directory, you can add them to your groups from the Microsoft 365 admin center. To add an Azure Active guest user to the directory directly, use the Azure portal. In order to edit guest information, you can access user profile information using Azure Active Directory. If you want to allow guests in most groups but need to block guest users from a specific group, block guest access for individual groups by using Microsoft PowerShell.
- Manage by Domain: Admins can permit or block guest users from specific domains, allowing for guests and partners to network on specific projects.
- Manage the Global Address List: By default, guests aren’t visible in the Exchange Global Address List. In order to make them visible, follow instructions listed on the Microsoft 365 Teams page.
- Enable New Together Mode Features: Microsoft Teams is now rolling out its newest Together Mode capability, which presents users with a large 7x 7 grid video gallery. Meetings will start in their own window.
- Enhanced Pre-Meeting Experience: The new pre-join experience will make it more intuitive for new users to set up the correct audio, video and device configurations before joining the meeting; saving time and eliminating confusion during the opening moments of the meeting.
- Spotlighting Users: One of the more anticipated feature updates is rolling out soon, and allows the presenter to lock onto and spotlight an individual user who will be shown to all participants. This will eliminate distraction from large user grids and permit the attendees to focus solely on the person speaking at the time.
