The Microsoft Teams product suite is diverse and customer friendly – but subscription-based clients may not even realize the features and capabilities inherent in the platform. Check out these Microsoft Teams features that you may have missed, and learn more about how to make your meetings even more productive.
- Managing meeting policies: You can use default settings for meetings, but Teams allows you to set up policies and permissions in various ways. For instance, the moderator can choose “per organizer settings,” which allow the same permissions for every participant; or “per-user settings” to determine individual permissions. Both settings can be utilized simultaneously, allowing the organizer to open some features to everyone and limit other features to a select few. Organizationally, these settings can be set only to allow certain people to schedule or change meetings. These permissions can be managed from the Admin Center or by using PowerShell.
- Coming Soon – Speaker Coach: The new business paradigm has created a prolific remote business model, making online meetings more important than ever. The speaker coach feature acts as your personal meeting mentor and trainer to improve your communication and presentation skills for this new environment. The feature employs AI to offer guidance on your pace, notify you if you are interrupting someone, and provide pop-up reminders to check in with your listeners periodically. You can also be alerted if you are too monotone, use poor grammar or filler words, or use sensitive words and phrases. This feature empowers speakers, encouraging confidence whether presenting or simply participating. If these capabilities sound familiar, it is because they are essentially a rebranding of PowerPoint Presenter Coach – but are now available through both PowerPoint and Teams.
- Use Live Components to Crowd-Source: Live Components in Teams chat (soon to be re-named Loop Components) offer a better way to create, brainstorm, and make decisions with your team. This feature allows you to send a table, task list, or paragraph to everyone in the chat, allowing them to edit inline and track changes. Live Components can crowd-source projects without scheduling meetings or losing ideas in long text threads. Another of the Microsoft Teams features is Share Components, which permits the sharing of Live Components into multiple group chats. Recipients can make changes from wherever they are and instantly review updates, regardless of who made the changes. Future updates will move Live Components into Outlook and across all Microsoft 365 applications.
