Hey, everybody. It’s finally June. The days are getting a little bit longer. Weather is beautiful minus a few rain showers now and then. So, hey, it’s just prepping us for the summertime, right? And what’s summertime? Hurricane season. And I know you’re thinking, here I go preaching about disaster recovery. No, I’m really not going to preach about disaster recovery because I think everybody and their brother and every tech person around has preached about disaster recovery, backups, the 3, 2, 1 theory, three backups, two types of media, one offsite, make sure you’re covered. Make sure you’re backed up. Test your backups. Go through your recovery plan. Talk to your employees about your business continuity plan.

But actually here today, I’m going to point my finger and poke at those of you that don’t do backups, don’t think you need backups, have ever needed them. And guess what? At some point in time, you’re going to need that backup. You’re not going to have it. And what are you going to do? The only thing you can do is try to prevent it from happening again by getting backups. So, I get it. We’ve got insurance. We’ve never been in a car accident. So, why should we pay for insurance? Why should we do backups? I’ve never needed it. Been in business for 20 years, never needed it.

That’s fantastic! But guess what? I hear that story so many times. We’ve never needed it, never needed it. Oh, now we need it. We’ve been down for a week. We can’t afford to have this happen again. Folks, just try to get ahead of the issue. Get some sort of backups. It doesn’t have to be massive. It doesn’t have to be three different medias. It doesn’t have to be offsite, onsite this and that. Just do something. Consult with somebody. Find out what’s right for you and get at least some little tiny bit of backup before you need it. Otherwise, yeah, we’ll hear when you do.

Have a great day.
