In our last blog, we discussed two of the most significant new features included in the Windows 11 22H2 rollout.  Also known as Moment 2, this feature drop also includes many other lesser updates to in-box apps, namely Task Manager and Settings. We are going to look at both of these new changes, as well as many other minor adjustments made to the platform.

Microsoft Teams

The Task Manager now exhibits a new Search bar located along the top of the app, giving users the ability to search for troublesome apps rapidly. The Task Manager has also been upgraded with improved accent colors and more contemporary popup dialogs that match the totality of Windows 11’s design language.

The Settings app also offers new options for users, including the Energy Recommendations feature located in the Power & Sleep settings area. This new feature offers more energy-efficient settings.

Here’s the full  list of 22H2 changes for Moment 2, provided by Microsoft:

  • Access Windows Studio effects directly from quick settings on the taskbar for devices, making it more efficient to turn on and configure camera effects. (Background Blur, Eye Contact, Voice Focus, and Automatic Framing). These effects are still also located in Settings.
  • Get help for PC issues more easily with the Quick Assist app, located at Settings > System > Troubleshooters. Quick Assist can also be found in the Start menu’s All apps list.
  • Enjoy the improved search box capability, which fills in search results as you type. For commercial clients, the update added a new capability for IT administrators to manage how the search box appears across the organization. For more information, see Customizing search on the Windows 11 taskbar.
  • Improve the energy efficiency of your PC via energy recommendations. Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Energy Recommendations.
  • Introduce yourself to a touch-optimized taskbar for 2-in-1 devices. There were two potentials for this taskbar: collapsed and expanded. When collapsed in tablet modethe taskbar minimizes to provide more screen space and avoid accidental taskbar opening. When expanded, the taskbar is easier to use touch utilization.
  • Support has been added for new braille displays and new braille input and output languages in Narrator. Some of the new braille displays included the APH Chameleon, the APH Mantis Q40, the NLS eReader, and many more.
  • Additional voice access support for spin controls, thumb controls, and split buttons is controlled by using the “click” command or number overlays.
  • Provided voice scrolling enhancements, which allow total control of scrolling with the voice commands. For more information about the new voice access commands, see Voice access command list.
