Good morning everyone. I hope everyone is having a great day and the week is going well for you.
I wanted to take a moment and kind of open up an old topic but relative for the moment. I’m sure as everyone knows or has heard that Windows 7 and Server 2008 is coming to end of life in January of 2020 and you’re probably not alone and dragging your feet and have not upgraded yet.
Don’t fear. You’re not alone. But Dell and HP both have over a million systems on back order. This is our little public information notice here.
It has been out in the news a little bit but not a whole lot. Intel has some manufacturing delays and it is causing some rollout delays and project delays in those that are trying to get their systems upgraded.
Initially they thought it was going to be around April or so until those back orders were filled. Now we’re talking June or July.
So if you haven’t upgraded your systems yet, you may want to start seriously thinking about it and getting your orders in even though it may be a couple of months until that project can even get started because I can almost guarantee you, if you decide to wait until third or fourth quarter to start upgrading your systems, your project completion is going to be way beyond January of 2020, thus leaving your systems even more vulnerable to the hackers and the ransomware and all the other bad things that are out there.
So don’t delay folks. Start seriously thinking about it. Get with your IT consultant or your IT provider and get that upgrade project in place.
