Tech titan Microsoft is setting the stage to introduce the next generation of its Windows platform, due to release on June 24. The announcement about the upgrade arrived only a week after CEO Satya Nadella insinuated that major changes to the PC operating system for developers and creators were on the way.

Windows 10 update

According to The Verge, the software behemoth is in the process of sending media invites for the Windows event. Both Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and chief product officer Panos Panay will be presenting at the event, taking place 11 am ET / 8 am PT on June 24, 2021. The invite itself e ven seems to tease a possible new logo, a major brand enhancement for many.

Microsoft is expected to outline its next generation changes to the platform, thought to include an array of visual enhancements.

Experts are also elooking forward to many significant UI changes to Windows under a project  codenamed ‘Sun Valley’.  In May, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10X, its OS initially built for dual-screen devices, will no longer be available. The company is now integrating the new visual elements of Windows 10X into the main version of Windows 10 instead.

A lot of the visual work has already begun to roll out, and includes brand new system icons, File Explorer enhancements, and the termination of Windows 95-era icons. Microsoft is also concentrating on the improvement of the basic foundations of the platform, with needed fixes for a rearranging apps issue on multiple monitors, the addition of the Xbox Auto HDR feature, and upgrades to Bluetooth audio support.

Nadella has also promised to unroll a more robust economy for developers and creators within Windows itself.

Microsoft has recently been working on a new app store, and insiders suspect Microsoft will open its store up to all rival apps and payment platforms.
